Intermediate Step, Combo 3 from May 20, 2009

And, last but not least is Combo 3. Here's the video with my in-class breakdown. I have already taped my next Intermediate class, so will start working on those videos very soon. Have fun!

Hi! I'm a very new instructor (certified in Dec 08 and started volunteer instructing in Jan 09) I love watching your routines. They inspire me to keep getting better. I also appreciate the vids of you in your class especially this one where I can hear your cueing. I think that is the hardest part of instruction. Well, that and trying to get my class excited for new moves, which seem to never go over well. They want the same old routine! And I get bored. But anyway! I would love to hear more of your cueing. You are so good at it. Thanks for your blog, it is wonderful. Robyn

Hi Robyn,

For classes that just want the same stuff over and over, I would recommend that you change out just a bit of each class every 2 to 3 weeks. This will slowly evolve the class into another routine. It's also perfect for a new instructor, because you get very good at breaking down the parts you've taught so many times, while still getting some practice teaching new material.

Cueing is so very important, I must agree! The timing is critical, but also the words you use. Be consistent with what you call your moves -- that will help tremendously down the road as your participants learn what you call things.

I'm happy you can use my videos to learn. That's exactly why I put them up!!!

Take care,
Dana
